Despite what TV and Pinterest might tell you, there is more to Bohemian culture than wearing flower crowns and paisley print (although if that’s what you want to do, then do it!). Being a Bohemian babe isn’t so much about what you wear— it’s about what you feel and the way you live! And anyone can embrace this “freestyle lifestyle”, too! Trust us, if everyone just walked a little on the Bohemian side from time to time, the world would be a much better place. Here are five easy ways you can embrace your inner Bohemian, because we should all have a bit of Bohemian in us!
1. Live free
Call it what you want— the first commandment, the guiding principle, a personal mantra,
whatever! The point is, this is one of the most important pieces of the Bohemian lifestyle, that is, living by your own rules. Bohemians by their very definition are free spirits and they generally
live their lives guided by what feels right and what feeds their soul. This sounds pretty awesome
A Bohemian is an artist and even though you might think otherwise, we all are artists. As
children, we loved to create— we wrote stories, we painted pictures, we made music. And for
some reason as we grew up we lost that artistic side. Embracing your Bohemian spirit means
getting back to your roots as a creative and this can look like anything— painting, singing, evenknitting if that’s what floats your boat! Just create.
3. Dress the part
Of course a Bohemian babe will look like a Bohemian babe, right? While the most important
thing is to dress the way you want to, we can’t deny that the Boho chic aesthetic is a fun one. A
few key elements of a Boho chic wardrobe that are really easy to incorporate into your own style are: beautiful, colorful prints, loose, flowy clothing, eclectic jewelry and accessories, and of course most of all, confidence!
4. Ignore the box
Don’t just think outside the proverbial box. For Bohemians, the box doesn’t even exist. Ignoring or living beyond society’s standards is a very freeing experience and of course is integral to the
Bohemian lifestyle. Don’t live for likes on social media or wear what other people are justbecause it’s trendy. Those social norms and standards restrict you and Bohemians are free!
5. Be You.
A very smart man once said, “Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alivewho is you-er than you”. That man of course, is Dr. Seuss and it is great life advice, especially if you are trying to embrace the Bohemian spirit. If there is nothing else that you take away from being Bohemian, it is that you should be you. Love who you are and love who you are becomingand if you do that, then you’re well on your way!
